The Maidanak Observatory of the UBAI of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan is one of the high-altitude observatories in terms of astroclimate, image quality and the number of clear nights comparable to the southern observatories of ESO. Observations are carried out at Maidanak under a number of international programs of gravitational lenses, AGNs and blazars, variable binary stars, supernova searches, etc. In 2021, observations of binary interacting stars began under a joint Uzbek-Chinese project: “Investigations and observations of special LAMOST eclipsing binaries based on telescopes in Uzbekistan and China”.
